Minecraft port forwarding question?

Does anyone know how to portfoward to minecraft on a Verizon broadband router model #MI242- WR. Also me and my older are gonna play on the server, and he connects to the router from his laptop, and I use the desktop. Do you guys know if you can play on the same server using the same IP, because we use the same router?
