If Cam Newton pans out do you think the Panthers could develop into legit contenders?

Well since Newtons first thought was to take time off instead of trying to get with coaches and team mates, I don't have any faith in his work ethic. I'm not a Panthers fan but he seems more like a "payday" player instead of a "gameday" player.
