Are there any "Square" dirt bike/enduro engines?

Are there any dirt bike or dual sport engines that have the same size bore and stroke? If so what do they run like (or would they, should none exist)? I've heard that KTM (that or Husqvarna, can't remember which) was using larger pistons with shorter strokes, which is the opposite of every Jap bike I've ever pulled apart (XR's, CR's, IT's, YZ's, and WR's). I found that interesting because my friend rides a KTM and it has a hell of a lot of power but not that much top end speed (for a 380) compared to other bikes of the same class. So I figure if you have a smaller piston and a larger bore you have more speed and less power. Wouldn't "Square" be a nice medium? Now please remember my "figurings" are based on very little, before you start bashing my lack of technical knowledge ;)
